Post subject:  CHOCOLATE / MOCHA COLOURED FLOWERS (ROSES)

Hi

The whole theme of my wedding so far has been brown and cream ... my dress is ivory, I have two flowergirls in ivory and a maid of honour in taupe. I planned to have cream and brown roses in my bouquet and in my attendants bouquets and on the tables but my florist is having terrible trouble finding anything that resembles the brown that I want!!! All the roses that she has been given are either too peachy or far too orange / coppery. I have seen photographs of these roses but finding it impossible to track any down (given names like Halloween / Terra Nostra / Mocha). Can you please help?

My florist has suggested changing the brown for a lime (as it is the 'in' colour) or pink but I am not convinced?

Can you please help?!!

hello. the best rose I find that goes really well with a chocolate theme is marakesh. its quite a vintage looking rose but definately goes with browns etc, the only other one that i think looks nice with browns is leonardis, but that is more terracotta. good luck

kind regards

Hi, The rose you may like is called Leonidas. They are not at all hard to get and quite incredible. They look great all by themselves. The inner petals are brownish tonal shades and the outside of the petals is gold to terracotta shades, hope this helps.

I've gotten samples of both of the roses you have suggested but they are still too orange - its more of a coffee colour that I wanted :( Thank you very much for your help

Hi Tashaa

Unfortunately there are very few brown rose options to choose from but if you are open to other flowers here are a few suggestions that may be of interest.

One flower that is difficult to get hold of but might be suitable could be chocolate cosmos, a daisy-like flower in deep rich brown, with a real chocolate fragrance.

If you want something dramatic and exotic then anthuriums might be worth considering they are unusual, rich and glossy flowers. Ask for "Tropic Night" for the darkest shade, almost black, "Choco" for a plain-chocolate colour, or "Castano" for something more brunette.

See source of suggestions here Wedding Flower Question

If you would like a more traditional look then Germini come in various deep cream shades with deep brown middles and you could always accessorise with say brown feathers or Hypericum berries "Dolly Parton" and the lovely "Vendella" roses, it really does depend on the style of your wedding and the overall feel that you are looking for.

Visit Dutch Creationsfor pictures of some of the suggested flowers.

One final suggestion for a rose is Suraya - its quite a dark orangey/brown rose.

We hope that you find the suggestions useful!

Why not go with the lime - I bet it will look beautiful!
